Theology Pub

It's a sunny morning in Seattle. I'm sitting with my friend Mike Lee talking about the life of the mainline after the death of the mainline. We just wrote two songs before breakfast for the future lectionary project. Mike left his church a few months ago and is trying to figure out what God wants for him, with him, and in spite of him. I burned a frequent flyer ticket so he could join me for a theology pub with Rev. Karen Ward atthe artsy gen-x Church of the Apostles in the Freemont District .

I'm hoping to find a way to support Karen and Mike in a concept called "Mission Models in Motion." Here's the concept:

Mission

Models in Motion: Seed money will be granted to provide free consultation services and start-up funds to mission churches willing to explore and implement innovative designs for church planting. Applicants must show an entrepreneurial zeal, a passionate team already in action, a practical, low-overhead design to build the new faith community, and a plan for multiple streams of income. Grants will only be given to ministries that eventually intend to fund 2/3 of their operating expenses with monies other than offering receipts and national church hand-outs. (Coffeehouses, arts centers, community education ministries, cottage businesses by tent-maker pastors, etc.)
