I am putting the final touches on my 75 city "Faith Inkbuators 15th Anniversary Road Tour" as we speak.
The afternoons in each site will be aimed at Christian educators, pastors, family ministry task forces and children/youth/family staffers. My goal will be to get them to consider shifting family ministry from families doing PROGRAMS to families doing MINISTRY... every night in every home. From Christian education as a staff-run PROGRAM to a family-involved PROCESS. From the professional church worker as the STAR of the show, to the professional as the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of a nightly faith encounter that parents and kids both star in and direct. From the church as REPLACEMENT of the parents' role, to the chief RECRUITER, EQUIPPER, TRAINER, MOTIVATOR and SUPPORTER, of the people who once held that baby in their arms and made a promise to God to raise the child in the faith.
The evenings at my conferences will be aimed totally at the parents and kids. I'm going to ask them to commit to six weeks of trying what we're calling the FAITH 5 (Faith Acts In The Home... a title brought to us by our own Debbie Streicher!). Six weeks of turning off the tv, putting down the newspaper, and tuning off the cell phone to engage in caring conversations... for 5 minutes.
5 minutes. Every night. That's all.
Rich, I love the blog; will you be in Atlanta? I'd invite everyone I know to come hear you challenge us.
